Janice taught in a range of schools across the North East before joining Education North Tyneside.

She began her teaching career in a primary school created when a mainstream and special school merged. The school had appropriate resources to fully integrate pupils with physical disabilities. Since then, she has worked in primary and first schools in many different demographics.

Janice’s leadership experience culminated in being deputy headteacher as she has a background of subject and key stage leadership. Her responsibilities in school included being strategic lead for teaching, learning and assessment.

Janice is a qualified Mental Health First Aid Trainer and pupil premium reviewer. She chairs the North East Assessment Group and is a member of the Association for Achievement and Improvement through Assessment (AAIA). In recent years, Janice has delivered national moderator training for STA. She also lectures on the North Tyneside SCITT programme and is part of SCITT management team.

Janice is passionate about the curriculum offer being the best it can be for all pupils and staff feeling confident and skilled to deliver.
